New Mass High Tech Council Chair Comes from Life Sciences Industry (Boston Business Journal)

The head of Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. has taken on the top board spot of a Bay State technology trade organization.

Vertex president and CEO Joshua Boger is the new chairman of the Massachusetts High Technology Council, a tech trade organization that has added a number of biotechnology members in recent years.

Boger founded Cambridge, Mass.-based Vertex (Nasdaq: VRTX) back in 1989. He is also chairman of BIO, the biotechnology industry's national trade organization.

Boger's agenda will include working to make Massachusetts more competitive globally for its various technology sectors.

The Massachusetts High Technology Council also continues to focus on its Massachusetts Defense Technology Initiative, which launched in 2004 in order to grow the state's defense technology cluster.
